Butler County Health Care Center has an opening for a full-time results oriented Information Technology Specialist. The ideal candidates role is to coordinate, design, develop, launch and monitor efficient information systems and operations systems in support of core hospital functions as assigned. The individual will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Candidate must have completed or be working towards an associates or bachelors degree in Information Technology or a related field.  Clinical setting experience preferred. This position requires being on call with internet access and the ability to travel onsite if needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

 Understand and comply with the requirements of the Hospital’s Compliance Program, including, but not limited to the Code of Conduct, The Compliance Policy, all organization-wide policies for compliance and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities.

 Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by Hospital policy and as requested by supervisor.

 Consistently support the compliance Program through personal example; the provision of day-to-day instruction and correction to employees in regard to compliance-related issues; application of appropriate discipline as required for compliance violations; and ongoing monitoring of activities and work product in areas of responsibility with respect to compliance-related issues.

 1. Collect information to analyze and evaluate existing or proposed systems.

2. Research, plan, install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain and upgrade operating systems.

3. Manages, maintains and monitors reliability of the network.

4. Prepare detailed flow charts and diagrams outlining systems capabilities and processes throughout all departments.

5. Research and recommend hardware and software development, purchase, and use.

6. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and connectivity problems, including user access and component configuration.

7. Record and maintain hardware and software inventories, site and/or server licensing, and user access and security.

8. Install, configure, and upgrade desktop hardware and peripherals to include; network cards, printers, mice, various USB devices and vendor specific hardware.

9. Work as a team member with other technical staff, aiding in troubleshooting issues to ensure connectivity and compatibility between equipment and their associated systems.

10. Write and maintain system documentation.  Develop and write training materials, to be used by end users on newer updated software and hardware.

11. Write and maintain departmental procedures to be used by the IT staff during routine maintenance.

12. Maintains and ensures database performance and resolves problems to protect the integrity and security of computer systems.  Writes customized reports for end users.

13. Conduct technical research on system upgrades to determine feasibility, cost, time required, and compatibility with current system.

14. Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored or accessed by the network.

15. Document system problems and resolutions for future reference.

16. Enter helpdesk calls into helpdesk software.

17. Act as a technical resource for staff and physicians as relates to trouble shooting hospital systems.

18. Required to be on call to resolve IT issues remotely or on site as needed. Must maintain own internet access to resolve issues remotely.

19. Assists with developing and training of other IT staff.

20. Assist with recycling discarded IT related hardware, ensuring the destruction of any PHI still residing on that hardware.
