CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION CLASS
CHILDBIRTH EDUCATION CLASS

Childbirth Education is offered quarterly at Butler County Health Care Center. This class is held in the evening during two consecutive weeks and covers a variety of topics including:

Comfort measures and healthy lifestyles during the last few months of pregnancy
Signs of labor/monitoring of contractions
Stages of labor and positioning techniques to alleviate discomfort
Relaxation, breathing techniques and pain management during labor and delivery
Postpartum Cares
Breastfeeding
Newborn Cares
Hospital tour of labor, nursery and delivery areas

The class format consists of discussion and videos with lots of opportunities for questions/answers. This childbirth education class recommended to be taken during the third trimester of pregnancy. To register for Childbirth Education, please call 402-367-1206.

DIABETES EDUCATION PROGRAM
DIABETES EDUCATION PROGRAM

Butler County Health Care Center Diabetes Education Program is certified by the American Diabetes Association and is directed by Certified Diabetes Educator Sandra Burwll, RD, LMNT. The program is designed to help people with diabetes, as well as their family and friends, to learn how to manage diabetes and develop healthy lifestyle habits. Many participants in this program have seen reduced hemoglobin A1C levels and say they feel more confident in their ability to manage their diabetes. The class consists of six sessions which are presented four times per year.  Individual sessions are also available for those who qualify. The fee for this program is often covered by your health insurance provider or Medicare and will be submitted directly by the staff of Butler County Health Care Center.

BCHCC Diabetes Education Program teaches: 

An understanding of diabetes and how it affects your body
How to purchase and use a blood glucose monitor and how to use the results
Healthy eating habits
Monitoring your medications
Importance of exercise and activity
Early detection and prevention of complications
Awareness of Stress Management

PARKINSON'S EMPOWERMENT GROUP
PARKINSON'S EMPOWERMENT GROUP

Butler County Health Care Center offers a Parkinson's Empowerment Group for those with Parkinsons, their family members and/or caregivers.  The group meets from 10 to 11 am on the third Tuesday of each month in the Pioneer Room at Butler County Health Care Center and is free of charge for those that attend. The Parkinson's Empowerment Group is led by physical, occupational and speech therapists at Butler County Health Care Center.  Topics discussed include:

PD medication and side effects
Tip for living with motor and non-motor symptoms of PD
Assistive technology resources 
Community awareness
