Our comprehensive diagnostic services provides for nearly all our patients' needs, without traveling far from home.
Laboratory
Our hospital owns and operates its own full service lab to perform a variety of laboratory services. Some of the blood tests performed include:
- Lipid Profile - Used as part of a cardiac risk assessment to help determine an individual's risk of heart disease. Measures the level of fat-like substances found in blood.
- Blood Chemistry Tests - Provides general information about how your body is functioning. It is a screen for a range of body systems including kidney, liver, heart, adrenal, gastrointestinal, endocrine, and neuromuscular. Also provides information on blood sugar, protein and nutritional status.
- Thyroid Function Tests - Thyroid hormones regulate metabolism—the way the body uses energy—and affect nearly every organ in the body. Thyroid hormones also affect brain development, breathing, heart and nervous system functions, body temperature, muscle strength, skin dryness, menstrual cycles, weight and cholesterol levels. Many complex factors affect thyroid function and hormone levels. Health care providers take a patient's full medical history into account when interpreting thyroid function tests.
- PSA (Prostatic Specific Antigen) - Screen for the presence of prostate disorders
- Cardiac Marker tests - Used to measure heart function. Used most often for people with chest pain symptoms.
- Complete Blood Count - The cells that circulate in the bloodstream are generally divided into three types: white blood cells (leukocytes), red blood cells (erythrocytes), and platelets (thrombocytes). Abnormally high or low counts may indicate the presence of many forms of a disease and hence blood counts are among the most commonly performed blood tests in medicine, as they can provide an overview of a patient's general health status.
- Blood Transfusion Service - Testing is performed to determine a patient’s blood type, antibody status and to find units of compatible blood or blood products if necessary.
- Coagulation Tests - Used to monitor anticoagulant therapy or diagnose bleeding disorders
- Urinalysis - Very useful in diagnosing and screening for numerous diseases and conditions. For example urinary tract infections, kidney stones and other kidney diseases and monitoring progression of diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure.
