Butler County Health is seeking a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer for a full or part-time position. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing ultrasound procedures across multiple specialties, including abdominal, obstetrical, gynecological, and small parts. Opportunities for cross-training in limited X-ray procedures, including mammography, may be available for those who are eligible and interested in expanding their skills. Flexibility and a commitment to professional growth in multiple imaging modalities is essential.
Candidates must be graduates of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program and hold current ARDMS certification in the relevant specialty. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Understand and comply with the requirements of the Hospital’s Compliance Program, including, but not limited to the Code of Conduct, The Compliance Policy, all organization-wide policies for compliance and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities.
Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by Hospital policy and as requested by supervisor.
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures on patients of all ages as ordered by medical staff or radiologist.
- Maintain professional standards in imaging, patient care, and sterile technique for invasive procedures.
- Operate ultrasound equipment and related systems, including PACS, RIS, and scheduling systems.
- Accurately document studies in electronic health records and communicate relevant results to medical staff.
- Coordinate exams within the department and with other hospital units to ensure comprehensive patient care.
- Participate in the department’s quality improvement program, including imaging audits and documentation.
- Attend department meetings.
- Maintain and disinfect equipment, notify supervisors of equipment issues, and ensure the work area is properly supplied.
- Maintain professional development through workshops, seminars, and professional affiliations.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to hospital compliance and safety protocols.
- Appropriate barrier protection will always be used when exposure to blood and /or body fluids is anticipated.
- Implements safe work practices 100% of the time to reduce the risk of occupational exposure.
- Knowledge of sonographic anatomy, pathophysiology, and imaging principles, including Doppler techniques.
- Skill in operating imaging equipment, transducers, PACS, and other clinical software.
- Ability to communicate effectively, problem-solve, and work under stressful or emergent situations.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize work, and work independently when needed.
- Commitment to patient safety, proper body mechanics, and professional standards.
